I will be a student as long as there is something new to learn – I have great interest in the arts, the sciences, and the application of technology to solving problems.  I am certified to teach visual art, business/marketing/management, computer applications, general science, gifted education, health education, language arts, and social science in Illinois schools.

Current Engagements
I am currently serving as the instructor for several 100- and 300-level geological science courses and several science through inquiry courses. In my geology courses, I help students broaden their understanding of the earth, its history, and how human interactions affect the environment at large. In my science through inquiry courses, students ask and answer their own questions, learning to understand the world through scientific thinking.
While my core focus is in higher education, I also work with K-8 students through an earth science outreach program with the Peoria Academy of Science and teach in my roles as Master Naturalist and 4-H volunteer, teaching 3D design, filmmaking, and other STEAM topics.
I am also engaged in two research projects at present: one examining soil health in reclaimed prairies at Farmdale Reservoir and another exploring the effectiveness of teaching art and computational thinking through hands-on robotics.
